Shift Your Focus to Gratefulness

Time feels like it is moving so fast and the older I get the more I value it. I used to desire and covet so many things that were outside of myself. Rather that was clothes, shoes, bags, fancy dinners, romance, etc.

It wasn’t until recently that I chose to believe and act on the idea that God placed everything that I need inside of me. And until I learned to value the beauty in God’s temple, which is me, I couldn’t value the beauty in anything outside of myself. When you shift your focus from what you do not have to what you can become, things start to change.

The abundance that God promised is not just for some of His children, but it is for all of us. Start to believe the kind and loving words that God says about you and watch your mindset shift. Once your mindset begins to shift, you will start to see the world differently. You will stop looking at the glass as half empty and see it as half full.

Comparison is the thief of joy, but gratefulness breeds contentment. You cannot be filled with joy when you are upset with yourself, people, and God about the things that you do not have.

My Sad Story

I was not happy or joyful when I labeled myself as a woman with PCOS struggling with infertility. I did not consider myself blessed because I didn’t have a child. And when people would say things like I just need to pray about it, or pray harder, or just really believe it would send me to such a sad place. I felt like I was broken, helpless, and doing something to make God keep such a beautiful gift from me.

How I Shifted My Focus

But when I decided that I wasn’t going to let sickness and infertility be my identity, things changed.

I started to eat cleaner, exercise more, get dressed up, and do my makeup and that’s when I started to see myself differently. When I started to enjoy my alone time with my husband, our new home, and the freedom that we now have then I began to see how abundantly blessed I truly am.

My advice to you is to be grateful and look for the beauty inside yourself. You never know what God has in store for you.
