10 Lessons I've Learned Since Freshman Year

1.

Speak up for yourself.

This world can be harsh and no one is going to baby you.

2.

It is okay to feel sexy from time to time. My sexuality is MINE to embrace.

3.

Love your body

. Gaining weight happens as you grow older, but simply complaining won't change the number on the scale.

4.

Trying

new things

is good for your health. Stepping away from the usual can open up your eyes to some extraordinary.

5.

Cheating boyfriends don't magically change into faithful boyfriends.

Dump him!

6.

True friends

are similar to soul mates. No matter how long it's been since you all have last talked or the physical distance between you guys, you can always pick back up without missing a beat.

7.

Being a

black woman

comes with responsibility. We have so many negative stereotypes to overcome!

8.

The world doesn't

stop

for your tears.

9.

Bad things happen to good people.

10.

If you don't define your

self-worth

then someone else will.

Bonus:

Compromise is good for the soul. Sometimes it's okay to give in for peace. Being hard head is not always the right way to go. Stick to your morals, but learn from others.

What useful lessons have you learned while in college? Please share them below. I plan on doing another post for the incoming freshman this fall.

Much Love,
