How to Edit Pictures Like A Pro

I get a lot of questions about how I edit my Instagram images and plan my feed so I wanted to share this guide. Instagram is super important for influencers and brands; however, it’s important to pay attention to your own analytics.

The content that works for me may not work for you. Give the people what they want if your goal is engagements. If you’re more into posting from the heart, then do what you want. I like to look at my analytics, feed patterns, and blog content when planning my feed.

Before you start posting, ask yourself “Why am I on Instagram?

Fill in the blank. I am on Instagram to…

I am on Instagram to inspire women. It’s easier to plan a feed when you have 1 to 2 clear objectives. I shoot Instagram content that inspires my followers and motivational quotes along with style posts. Fashion and inspiration are both my passions and pieces of my core values.

Editing Steps

Now that we know why we’re posting, let’s discuss image editing for the gram. Here are the steps that I take to edit my images:

  1. Take a picture on iPhone or DSLR: You can edit pictures like a pro from both your camera and phone. I use a mixture of the two and my feed still looks cohesive.

  2. Correct lighting lightroom: Perfect lighting is hard to achieve without post-editing. Make sure you take the time to adjust your image’s sharpness, temperature, and exposure.

  3. Add Lightroom preset and adjust lighting: I like to update the sharpness, temperature, and exposure of my images post-preset as well. Lighting will vary from picture to picture.

  4. Export Image from Lightroom: Exporting is pretty easy. I like to save my pictures at the maximum size available.

  5. Import picture Into UNUM: Enough said.

  6. Plan Feed: I like to mix outfit images and flatlays. Aesthetic is important.

  7. Write caption: Captions tells a story that images just cannot tell. I like to do a mix of thought-provoking long captions and short to the point captions.

  8. Schedule Post: Look at your analytics for the best time to post.

  9. Push Out Post: Lights! Camera! Action!

  10. Add Relevant Hashtags: That’s all folks.
