Wellness Wednesdays: Thee (Fitness) Plan

You’ve made the resolution, but how are you actually going to go through with the plan? For everyone it seems that getting our bodies in shape is the number one thing on our to do list, but somehow it never gets done. We are starting now. Yeah, you and me! Don’t be the one who looks up at the end of the year, and realizes that you’ve put on another five pounds. It’s not cute!

This is

Thee

plan. Not some outrageous diet plan, that is really only meant for celebrities, and crazy people (no offense), but a simple 3-Step plan that will increase our health both mentally and physically.

Eat Better

How many times do you eat a day? (Not including the Snicker’s and bag of chips you sneak from time-to-time). If you cannot give me a number, it is probably because you don’t eat enough. Everyone should eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but you already know this. Breakfast doesn’t have to be extremely big, but eating a granola bar and fruit is better than nothing. If you know you wont be able to grab anything for lunch, pack it the night before. Eat dinner a couple of hours before you go to sleep. Sometimes I don’t have time to eat dinner until after nine and it just makes me feel like a gorilla because I go to sleep right after. That’s something I will not be doing in the New Year!

Go to Sleep

Turn off the tv, put the phone down, and go to sleep. A study I read about, in some overpriced, non-memorable class, showed that having the TV off results in a better slumber. So, turn it off. We’ve also been told that getting a good night of sleep is important for our bodies and as we get older we see how true this is. Research says that you need 7-8 hours of sleep per night, but do what works for your body. If you only need 6 hours, make sure you get those 6 hours every night.

Workout

You can watch Love and Hip Hop for an hour, but can’t get of the couch and exercise for twenty minutes? Get yourself together! Everybody is not able to make it to the gym, but

EVERYBDOY

does have some type of music device. Turn on the party tunes, at least three times out the week, and get to work. This option may not result in weight loss, but it could prevent you from gaining weight. Try it; what do you have to lose? Invest in one of those dance tapes they sale at Wal-Mart and Target. You honestly have no excuse as to why you can’t do a little something. It may be cold outside, but that does not mean you cannot be active inside.

Listen I am not judging because I also live this unhealthy lifestyle, but if we eat right, sleep enough, and workout (even just a little bit) this can help us start our new year off the correct way. These three things are not only important for us physically, but for our mental health as well. When your body is not getting what it needs, it can result in mood swings and depression. Yes, depression (inserts dramatic crying emoji). NOBODY HAS TIME FOR THAT.

So for the year 2014, let’s make a pack. We will appreciate our bodies more. They may not be perfect, but they are ours. We will make an effort to not just dress them better, but treat them better. Because when you look good, you feel good. And all we have to do is start here…. Deal?
