Whether the style is Bohemian, vintage, casual or classic, women all have one characteristic that bonds them together --- proper maintenance and care of clothes. We all want to look our best on the days that it counts, but there are mishaps when the shoes you splurged on do not completely fit right or the jeans that you fell in love with shrink. No need to fear anymore though! The compiled list below has a few necessary hacks that every woman should know to feel fabulous everyday!
A Girl’s (Second) Best Friend: Jeans are critical to a woman, especially when you find the perfect fit in the right wash. With that being said there is no need to have them fade from a few washes! On washday, turn your jeans inside out and add a 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to the final rinse cycle. This will help restore and maintain the look of your best dark jeans!
Honey, I Think I Shrunk The Clothes: There comes a time when time or simple impatience is not on our side and we regretfully break the honorable laundry rules. Often times, the horror stories emerge around the dreaded mix of blending the wrong clothes, but every now and then, the dryer is the dreaded culprit! If you need to restore clothes to their original length, then follow these simple steps:
- Fill the sink with warm water and add a small amount of baby shampoo.
- Let the item soak for a while (about 30 minutes).
- Remove from the item from water, without rinsing the shampoo off and squeeze out the excess water gently.
- Lay the clothes out flat on a towel and roll the towel up, with the clothing inside.
- Transfer the item to a dry towel and periodically pull on the side that needs to be adjusted.
- Finally, let the item air dry and it should be back to new!
The Glass Slipper MUST Fit: Shoes are one of the best accessories for a woman to express herself but sometimes, the perfect shoe just does not fit properly! This knack is one that can help if your shoe is just too tight. Simply grab two zip lock bags, filling them halfway with water. Be sure to seal them tightly (without minimal air) and place them inside the shoe. Place the bags inside the heels and the heels in the freezer. Leave them overnight and remove the bags the next morning. Repeat this process as many times as needed until you reach the ultimate comfort!
Revamping the Old: Nothing is worse than a rough cotton t-shirt. Well, now is your chance to say good-bye to the stiffness and embrace softness! Submerge the shirt in salt water for three days, wash/dry like normal and prepare to love a whole new shirt!
Rain, Rain, Go Away: Rain is one of the natural forces that ruin the right pair of shoes if you are not prepared! The hack that you’re about to read is quick, easy and will create buzz amongst your friends. Purchase beeswax, which can be found on Amazon or hardware stores) and rub the entirety of the shoe (ie. Pair of Toms) with it. Once this is completed, then you may proceed to blow dry the shoes. Let the shoe set for at least fifteen minutes and then you are ready to head out on the town!
