How to Stay Moisturized in the Winter

I partnered with Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant to share how I care for my skin when it's cold outside. Although this a sponsored post all opinions are my own.
If you're anything like me, then you love warm temperatures but fall fashion has your heart. Cold weather makes me want to curl up on the couch and read style books or scan through Pinterest. Honestly, I have a love-hate relationship with the cold.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when temps drop is your skin. Ashy knuckles and itching underarms are a "no no!" I remember being afraid to show my underarms before I started using Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant. It leaves my underarm skin moisturized and protected. Sweaty pits are the worst, especially on your first day of work. Keep reading to dive into 5 ways I care for my skin when it's cold outside.
#1: Lay off the intense exfoliation.
Over-exfoliating can strip the skin of its essential oils, leading to breakouts in the drier, colder months, according to Dove Dermatologist Dr. Alicia Barba. A misconception is that rubbing off dead skin cells daily will improve skin, when it can dehydrate it.
#2: Care for your underarms.
Underarm skin is sensitive and fabrics rubbing there can irritate the skin, Dr. Barba says. Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant is formulated with moisturizers to help protect against irritation and leave you with softer and smoother underarms.
Have you tried Dove Advanced Care? It provides 48-hour odor and wetness protection, plus added skin care benefits for softer, smoother underarms. Click here to see which scents it comes in and to read all of its amazing benefits.
#3: Drink water.
I force myself to drink lots of water when it's cold outside. Although I'm not sweating as much as in the summer, the cold air seems to steal away my hair and skin moisture. I can't stress drinking more water enough. Your body is 90% water and it needs to be replenished.
#4: Sunscreen for all seasons.
Keep the sunscreen right next to your daily moisturizer, even in the winter, Dr. Barba says. Consider switching to a moisturizing sunscreen, a bit richer than your summer product. Harmful UV rays don’t take a break for cold weather. Even if you’re bundled up, sunscreen is a must for your face, and any other skin that’s not covered up.
#5: Cover up.
Cold air means covering up. I love to buy new gloves, scarves and hoodies every fall. If you want to keep your skin moisturized and you live in the north, make sure you are layering up so lock in the moisture that your lotion, Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant and lip balm provides.
That concludes 5 ways I care for my skin when it's cold outside. Did you learn something new? I sure hope that you did. Special thanks to Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba, for providing her amazing tips. You have zero excuses to be ashy this fall/winter. Grab your very own Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant here.
