Fit Fridays: Operation Summer Body in 5 Easy Steps

It's almost the springtime, which means that summer is right around the corner, so I have decided to make a conscious effort to lose weight and tone up. Last summer I sculpted my body into a luscious shape that I was proud of. I dropped 12 pounds and kept it off, until I came back to school in the fall.

I have managed to gain it back and then some. (inserts sad face) Now that I have a little less on my plate and have decided to focus on my fitness I will be adding fitness posts to the blog again. Yay, nobody wants to be stuck in a body that they don't adore. I want to end college on a high note in every area of my life including my figure. Time to jump right into

Operation Summer Body in 5 Easy Steps!

1. Working out 4 days per week for 45 minutes/day

In a perfect world, I'd work out everyday like fitness and fashion beast Angela Simmons whom I stalk on instagram, but I haven't gotten there yet. My advice is to start out going to the gym 3 days per week. Then add another day. I like to do cardio + abs + legs everyday with my waistband. My waistband simply helps me tummy sweat extra. It is not a corset or waist trainer. I didn't use one of those this summer, so I don't plan on getting one now. (waist trainer)

My Favorite Workouts

-Elliptical (Tip: Increase the incline and resistance to work those buns!)

- 4 Week Total Body Makeover Challenge (video)

- Outdoor Track

- Bicycle crunches

2. Increase fiber intake

I like to regulate my system, so fiber helps me to do that! You can work out all you want, but if you aren't pooping then you aren't losing weight. Try adding flax seeds to your yogurt or salad each day. I also eat fiber bars for snack instead of chewy's.

I have learned that getting into shape isn't about what you can't have it, but it is about making better dieting decisions.

3. New headphones and workout gear

Maybe it's just me, but I like to look good when I work out. I always come out of the workout room looking like I was in a fight for my life, but in cute clothes. I love spandex and bold colored sports bras.

When you look good, you feel good.

If you didn't agree with that statement then you wouldn't be reading this! I got new headphones because I have small ears and it sucks when all of your earphones keep falling out of your ear, so I bought a pair of iWorld Matrix headphones. They came with 3 different size earbuds.

I loooooove these headphones because they stay in my ears while I'm running and they are super cute and they were only $5.

4. Disciplined dieting

This step is the most important. I have to give up sweets and you should consider it too. (Treat yourself to 1 sweet per week.)

This summer I almost completely took sugar out of my diet and I saw dramatic fat loss around my waist and back. Carbs + sugars aren't exactly your best friends while trying to lose weight. Try to add natural sugars to your diet and eat fruits for dessert. Another huge part of dieting is drinking water. You have to drink water with every meal and in between meals as well! Water helps keep your skin, nails, and hair healthy. Not to mention that it keeps everything running smoothly inside the body.

We will be doing a H2o Challenge with Hay Queen next month! Stay tuned for more details.

5. Make fitness goals

You need to be realistic and honest with yourself. Don't make goal that you aren't willing to work toward. My goals are simple, yet they are going to be challenging. I want to get this fat off of me and tighten up. I have my eye on this Mint Swim swimming suit. You should make 3 month goals and monthly goals and even weekly goals if you want.

My Fitness Goals:

  1. Weekly: To hit the gym at least 4 days per week + cut out sweets and alcohol
  2. Monthly: Lose 8 pounds by March 16, 2015
  3. 3 Months: Be confident enough to go swimsuit shopping!

I will keep you guys updated twice per month or so. I hope that you all will invite me on your fitness journeys as well! Thanks for all of your support. Jasmine Diane has made its ways to 16,000+ page views. I will do a giveaway once we reach 20k.
